Belilios Road

Originally called Klang Lane, it was later renamed Belilios Road after Isaac Raphael Belilios, a Jewish cattle trader. He bought land in the area, including spaces in neighbouring streets such as Chander Road and Rotan Lane in order to develop and create infrastructures for his businesses. These infrastructures  included facilities for livestock, such as sheep pens, cow sheds and feeding stations.

Cattle trading in the Little India would last until the early 20th century, when the swamps, important to cattle rearing, were drained and filled to build roads and buildings.
